After our meditation we spoke about looking into our positive qualities, being able to humanize each other...

To whom it way concern,
My name is ******** and I would like to take a few minutes to thank De Hong for his time in our Buddhist retreat.
October 14, 2022 before I was called to attend the retreat, I was in my cell “trying” to finish my college mid-term test. However, I could not focus nor concentrate. For example, I sat for five minutes, then I would get up to stretch. I would sit again, then the same thing happened, few minutes passed and I would get up and look outside my window. The point is, I could not sit still and be mindful in my test.
I was called to the Chapel around 9:50 AM to attend the retreat. After formalities and waiting for everyone to show up, we meditated for 1 hour.
I allowed myself to dettach from the prison environment, being guided in my meditation, and letting my breathing being the object of my concentration. I felt good about myself.
We meditated some more, after taking a restroom break. Understanding my breathing to be the object of my concentration, I was able to let go of the thoughts that came to mind. I was able to maintain my focus for longer periods of time.
After our meditation we spoke about looking into our positive qualities, being able to humanize each other, regardless, that we are in prison where alot of negative energies could thrive, unless we are mindful and accepting.
After the retreat was over I came back to my cell and picked up where I left off, my mid-term test. I found out I had another mid-term test “revised” edition, for a few seconds I became overwhelmed and slightly irritated that not only, that I had to finish 1-mid-term test, but 2. Thankfully, I was able to tap into my calm, loving kindness meditation and I was able to finish both test by 11:30 pm.
In conclusion, after my meditation retreat I was able to sit still, focus, and concentrate for 7 hours and thirty minutes, working on my tests.
I am grateful for De Hong to take the time for being an example of living kindness to us prisoners and I appreciate him for helping my in my mindful meditation.
I would like to thank everybody who contributed to make our Buddhist retreat happen and being part of our recovery in prison to continue in our path of loving kindness, no matter where we are at.
Thank you very much.
Humbly,
********
